St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington, La., has announced plans to build a 20,000 square-foot ASC to open mid-2010, according to a STPH news release.

The new surgery center will triple the hospital’s current capacity at Covington Surgery Center and include four surgical suites. According to the release, the larger suites will allow surgeons to perform a wider variety of outpatient procedures, complicated orthopedic surgeries and delicate facial and nasal procedures.

The new Covington Surgery Center will be located on the top floor of a three-story building currently under construction across the street from the hospital’s main campus.
