Pres. Obama has identified an additional $313 billion in cuts to government healthcare spending over the next 10 years, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal.
Pres. Obama has now proposed more than $950 billion in healthcare spending cuts in an effort to free up funds for healthcare reform and healthcare coverage expansion.
Included in the proposed cuts are decreased annual payment rate increases for hospitals and other Medicare providers and reductions in subsidizes for uninsured care.
According to a separate report, the American Hospital Association and other hospital industry leaders “are disappointed” by the proposed cuts but support the expansion of healthcare coverage.
