Attitude on Eye Day

Does your OR staff feel cataract procedures are boring and mundane? Do you struggle with getting your team “excited about eye day”?  Challenge your staff to rethink their approach on eye day. In observing numerous eye teams nationwide, the teams that interact with their patients before, during and after the procedure seem to be more upbeat and connected with their cataract patients. Keep in mind, the majority of the cataract candidates are senior citizens with a great deal of wisdom, knowledge and experience. What a wonderful opportunity to learn about these individual’s outlooks on family, community and life in general.  Encourage your staff to develop an attitude that these people are coming into “our home” and the goal is to make them feel comfortable and at ease. And most importantly, you want these people to leave “our home” with a desire to want to come back again and visit with staff, who truly care & believe in them.
